Summerset's 2011 FALL HARVEST is over
You can reserve your spot for the 2012 Fall Harvest after the 4th of July. Dates will be announced at that time.
Thank you to all of you who helped make our 2011 harvest season spectacular! We produced a bumper crop this year with a record harvest in the vineyard. We couldn't have done it without the help of almost 600 of our BEST customers assisting in bringing in the crop.
Summerset harvesters experience the ambience of the vineyard as they cut the grapes off the vine, feel them crush beneath their feet during the stomp and indulge their palate in the flavors of our delicious award winning wines throughout the day.
To help make the harvesting experience even more memorable we suggest you get a group of friends together and reserve the Inn! Check out our website for more details on the Inn, www.summersetwine.com.
Each harvester receives breakfast, lunch, commemorative
t-shirt (see below for the 2011 t-shirt design), wine and the grape stomp celebration. Reservations are required and the cost is $25/pp. Payment is due at time of reservation and is non-refundable. The grapes need picked even when it rains, so harvest occurs rain or shine.
Schedule:
- 7:30 Arrive at the winery for breakfast and brief tutorial on grape picking
- After breakfast head into the vineyard and begin picking an acre of selected grapes
- Mid-morning enjoy a break of sampling a selection of last year's vintages.
- Return to the vineyard to complete your grape picking.
- The party begins! Climb into the barrel and stomp grapes, purchase a bottle of wine for some afternoon libations, place your footprint on the back of your commemorative t-shirt.
- Chow time! You'll be hungry after a long morning of grape picking and cavorting in the vineyard.
- We should be done with the festivities around 1:00 – 2:00 PM
Harvesters should:
- Wear old clothes (grapes may stain)
- Dress in layers (it may be chilly in the morning and warm up in the afternoon)
- Bring pruning shears
- Bring bug spray
- Bring sun screen
- Bring gardening gloves
- Remember, the grapes need to be picked rain or shine!
